Cedars-Sinai partnership brings in-depth cooperation with premium U.S. medical institution, openings strengthen community ties

United Family Healthcare (“UFH”) today inaugurated its two newest satellite clinics in Beijing, United Family Wudaokou Clinic and United Family Guangqumen Clinic. The inaugural event for both clinics was held at United Family’s new Wudaokou location, where United Family Healthcare Board Chair Ms. Roberta Lipson and Beijing United Family Hospital General Manager Sylvia Pan participated in the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

At the ceremony, United Family Healthcare also announced the launch of its medical partnership with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. UFH and Cedars-Sinai physicians will consult on cases across the spectrum of adult and pediatric specialties. Doctors from both sides provide second opinions and an integrated referral pathway for patients requiring transfer overseas. UFH and Cedars-Sinai also will serve as rotation sites for each other’s clinicians and functional area managers. The two institutions will jointly conduct conferences and symposia, selecting international research to address China’s medical priorities and engaging a global audience of clinicians.

“We are delighted to partner with an organization which shares our values and is a leader in medical innovation,” Ms. Lipson said. “Our partnership with Cedars-Sinai is a great opportunity for us to exchange our global experience and to jointly enhance the standards of international healthcare,” continued Lipson.

The two new clinics are respectively the eighth and ninth satellite facilities of Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics in the capital. According to Ms. Pan, UFH has now founded two hospitals, 9 satellite clinics, and a home health service network in Beijing.

“We strive to create a premium, service-oriented medical system with our main hospital being at the center,” Ms. Pan said. “We are dedicated to providing high quality medical services to communities and families. These new clinics will provide convenient healthcare for patients working and living in the Wudaokou and CBD neighborhoods, enabling them to enjoy full-service, international-standard medical care in a warm, private patient-centered setting combining preventive care, healthcare, treatment, and rehabilitation.”

A premium, people-oriented medical partnership

UFH has established multiple partnerships with a number of renowned top-level medical facilities in the U.S. and China, carrying out in-depth collaboration across several clinical specialty areas.

Located in Los Angeles, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) is one of the top medical centers in the United States, over 110 years of history.  CSMC was continuously rated as “One of America’s Outstanding Medical Institutions” by America’s Best Hospitals ranking. CSMC’s renowned specialties include oncology, cardiovascular, endocrine, ENT, gastrointestinal disease, gynecology, nephrology, and neurological diseases.

“Cedars-Sinai is excited about collaborating with United Family Healthcare,” said Dr. Spencer Koerner, Medical Director of the Center for International Health at CSMC. “Best practices in medicine should not be limited by borders, and this partnership, between two outstanding healthcare systems, will enable us to achieve the best outcomes possible for all.”

Beijing United Family Hospital has in-depth collaborations with many leading medical institutions in China, such as Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, and Peking University Cancer Hospital.

Ms. Lipson said, “UFH will continue to seek out and conduct close cooperation with top medical institutions both at home and abroad. This will contribute to the increase of our physicians’ skill and our quality of service. In the future, we will continue to develop innovative, premium medical services for the Beijing community.”

Creating a high quality medical service system and expanding community medical services

In addition to the partnership with Cedars-Sinai, a forum called the “People-Oriented Expansion of Community Medical Services” was held at United Family Wudaokou Clinic. Chinese Private Hospital Association Vice Chairman Huang Xiying, and Bejing 21st Century Hospital President Xu Yuhua were in attendance. Professor Gu Yuan, Chair of General Practice of the Chinese Medical Association, delivered a keynote speech for the forum.

According to Ms. Pan, the founding of UFH introduced the American system of general practice, providing clients with international-standard community medical services. UFH’s two newest clinics are staffed by experienced Family Medicine physicians. For their convenience, patients can make appointments on the phone and choose the nearest clinic to their home and work. If they have further medical needs, they can be referred to Beijing United Family Hospital.

Located in the Tsinghua Tongfang Science Park of Zhongguangcun, Untied Family Wudaokou Clinic is adjacent to many prestigious universities, research institutions, and high-tech enterprises. United Family Guangqumen Clinic is located in central business district neighborhood of Chao Yang district.

As with other UFH clinics, the two new clinics in Beijing will provide a full range of Family Medicine services and other specialties.

“All UFH Family Medicine physicians are professionally trained in their respective fields and have extensive clinical experience,” said Ms. Pan. “Our physicians can provide the treatment and care for common diseases in children, adults, and the elderly. Additionally, our physicians will help them to manage their health and guide them to seek further medical care, if needed.”

In addition to Family Medicine, all UFH clinics deliver comprehensive healthcare including Pediatrics, Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, TCM, Radiology and Imaging, Ultrasound, and Laboratory. For women, all UFH clinics offer routine gynecological examination, check-ups and treatment of common diseases in women, puberty and menopause heath consultation and care, family planning consultation, and more.

United Family Wudaokou and Guangqumen clinics will offer preventive care based on the needs of the community and tailor preventive care plans.

Realizing the integration of health management from hospital and community to family

According to Ms. Lipson, UFH is dedicated to increasing access in China to state-of-the-art medical and rehabilitation concepts, as well as new technologies from the United States which will enable patients to enjoy a full spectrum of medical services and to lead a better life.

UFH is staffed by many Western-trained medical specialists from around the globe, including the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Japan. UFH clinicians have years of experience and can provide premium services for patients from different cultures.

To date, the UFH network in the capital is comprised of Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics, Beijing United Rehabilitation Hospital, nine satellite clinics, and United Family Home Health, which can provide continuing services for patients from newborns to the elderly.

At the forum, United Family Home Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Qin Xinyan said, “Through our call center, United Family Home Health and UFH main hospitals and clinics can work in concert to provide patients with integrated and convenient health management services. The referral system between UFH clinics and main hospital not only provides patients with timely medical services but contributes to the efficient and proper treatment rating system within UFH network.”

“With in-home medical care provided by United Family Home Health,” Dr. Qin explained, “we have established a medical service chain covering hospital, community, and family, through which postpartum mothers, newborns, the elderly, patients with chronic diseases, and other patients who find hospital visits inconvenient will enjoy UFH’s international-standard, continuing medical services.”
