Biography

Dr. Liu completed her medical training at Tsinghua University and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) in 2013, and her psychiatric training at Prince of Wales Hospital (Hong Kong) and PUMC Hospital. She was later awarded a Medical Doctorate Degree in 2013; her thesis focused on psychosomatic medicine and medically unexplained symptoms.

After graduation, Dr. Liu worked at the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Peking University’s Institute of Mental Health, where she developed expertise in treating a broad range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance and alcohol abuse.

Before joining Beijing United Family Hospitals and Clinics in 2021, Dr. Liu worked at the National University Hospital and the Institute of Mental Health in Singapore, and gained extensive experience in psychiatric emergencies, psychological aspects of severe medical conditions, and psychogeriatric medicine. She also advanced her expertise in managing child and adolescent mental health conditions by doing one year of clinical work in Anding Hospital, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Liu has over ten years of clinical experience, she is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrist (MRCPsych, UK); and a certified psychological counselor. In her work, she tackles complex clinical challenges working with individuals and families, and provides holistic, culturally sensitive, patient-centered care.
