Biography

Dr. Zou Haibo received a doctor’s degree from Chongqing Medical University in 2004. He is currently working in the orthopedics spine surgery department of China Japan Friendship Hospital. He is an associate professor of Peking University Medical Department Capital Medical University and a master’s tutor of Capital Medical University Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. From April 2009 to July 2010, he studied and worked in Twin Cities Spine Center (TCSC), Minnesota, as a visiting scholar and research fellow. He also visited Seoul Medical Center in South Korea and Sarawak General Hospital in Malaysia to learn minimally invasive spinal surgery technology.

Dr. Zou Haibo is part of an early group of orthopedic spine surgeons in China who have trained and put spinal endoscopy into clinical practice. He is excellent at treating various types of patients who have lumbar disc herniation and lumbar spinal stenosis, by using spinal endoscopy, MED (intervertebral disc endoscopy) or microscopy. In addition, his clinical experience also include the treatment of lumbar spondylolysis, lumbar spondylolisthesis, and severe lumbar spinal stenosis with spinal internal fixation. He can carry out surgical treatment for cervical disc herniation, cervical spinal canal stenosis, thoracic disc herniation or thoracic spinal canal stenosis. At the same time, he has carried out in-depth research on the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis patients. He provides individualized diagnosis and treatment plans for patients with different types of osteoporosis, and can use minimally invasive techniques (percutaneous vertebroplasty/percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty) to treat pain caused by osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, spinal metastases, multiple myeloma, etc.

Dr. Zou has presided over a number of provincial and ministerial level topics, published more than 30 articles in domestic and foreign core journals (5 included in SCI), translated the Essentials of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Spine Surgery and the Handbook of Clinical Examination of Spine (the second edition of the original book). He has also co-translated the Essentials of Spine Surgery, and participated in editing several books related to spine surgery. He has obtained 3 invention patents and 2 utility model patents related to the spine.

Dr. Zou Haibo is a member of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Group of the Orthopedic Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, a member of the Osteoporosis Prevention and Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Rehabilitation Medical Association, a standing member of the Spine Minimally Invasive Expert Committee of the Chinese Medical Association, a member of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Organizing Committee of the Orthopedic Branch of the Beijing Medical Association, a member of the Surgical Standardization group of the Orthopedic Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, a member of the Spine Function Reconstruction Group of the Orthopedic Branch of the Chinese Medical Association standing member and secretary-general of the Spine Minimally Invasive Professional Committee of Beijing Institute of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine. He is an expert in the senior talent evaluation project of the Talent Exchange Service Center of the National Health Commission, a member of the medical and health expert pool of Beijing Chaoyang District Labor Ability Appraisal Committee, a medical tutor of the “medical and industrial cross experimental class” of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a member of the medical insurance expert pool of Chaoyang District Basic Medical Insurance Medical Professional Evaluation Committee Editors of the Chinese Journal of Spine and Spinal Cord, Journal of Robotic Surgery, Journal of Neck and Lumbar Pain, The Spine Journal in Chinese, etc.

Dr. Zou Haibo has actively carried out plenty of work related to the popularization of science, and of spine related diseases in Beijing Satellite TV’s “I’m a big doctor”, CCTV’s “Workplace Health Class”, “Health to My Home”, “The Road to Health” and other columns, as well as Phoenix TV’s “Phoenix Health” and so on.
