Dr. Sun obtained his Doctorate Degree from Peking Union Medical College in 2011. Currently, he is the Director of Dornier College of Sino Japanese Friendship Hospital, the Chief Physician of Orthopedic Osteonecrosis and Joint Preservation and Reconstruction Center, the Director of Shockwave Center, a doctoral supervisor and professor of Peking University Medical College, and a doctoral supervisor of Peking Union Medical College, and a doctoral supervisor and postdoctoral supervisor of Capital Medical University. He has studied the treatment of avascular necrosis of the femoral head and artificial joint surgery technology in various international hospitals, including the Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong, the Henri Mondor Hospital in France, the Rummsberg Hospital and Mainz Hospital in Germany, the HSS, and Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in the United States, and the Castle Hill Hospital in the United Kingdom. From 2013 to 2014, he was a visiting scholar in the Joint Disease Hospital of New York University and conducted postdoctoral research.

Dr. Sun specializes in the diagnosis and individualized treatment of avascular necrosis of the femoral head, especially hip preserving surgery such as compression bone grafting, stem cell transplantation, and extracorporeal shockwave. He also specializes in the treatment of hip and knee diseases, such as minimally invasive hip and knee arthroplasty. Dr. Sun studied with Professor Li Zirong, famous osteonecrosis and joint disease expert. He also studied the etiology and pathogenesis of osteonecrosis extensively in the Chinese population and has worked in the orthopedic diseases field for a long time, especially hip joint diseases such as femoral head necrosis, artificial hips, and knee replacement; bone and soft tissue tumors, and limb salvage treatment. Dr. Sun has over 20 years of clinical experience. He operates more than 300 surgeries every year and treats thousands of cases with osteonecrosis and hip preservation and thousands cases with hip and knee arthroplasty and revision surgery cases.

At the same time, Dr. Sun also led and participated in four National Natural Science Foundation projects, three key clinical disciplines under the Ministry of Health, and many provincial and ministerial level projects. He published more than 200 articles in core journals in China and abroad, more than 70 articles in foreign SCI journals, and more than 10 orthopedic monographs. He won second place in the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the Huaxia Medical Award, and the 2019 Chinese Medical Youth Science and Technology Award. He also participated in more than 10 other provincial and ministerial awards, such as the second prize of the Chinese Medicine Award.
