Micol Ascoli

Dr. Micol Ascoli is a British – Italian adult Psychiatrist, a Cultural Psychiatrist, and a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist trained at the La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. She moved to the United Kingdom in 2004, where she worked in public and private health services for 16 years, before joining Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics in 2020.

Dr. Ascoli has 22 years of experience in clinical, transcultural, and academic psychiatry, as well as psychotherapy, services quality improvement, medical teaching, supervision, leadership, and management, acquired through her work as a Consultant Psychiatrist and Associate Clinical Director in public and private services in Italy and the UK.

Her work experience includes inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, liaison psychiatry, psychiatric intensive care, psychiatric rehabilitation, and cultural consultation. Her clinical skills range from neurotic to psychotic, personality disorders, and cross-cultural stress and adjustment.

Dr. Ascoli was an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Queen Mary University (London) from 2012 to 2018. She has also been a Visiting Professor of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Bergamo, since 2017.

Dr. Ascoli has authored a book chapter and several articles in peer-reviewed international journals. She has also chaired numerous symposia at international congresses. She was the winner of the “Sava” Award in 2015 for services to the World Association of Cultural Psychiatry and her international academic contributions to Cultural Psychiatry.
