YU, Sha Sha

Dr. Sha Sha Yu graduated from Southeast Medical University in 1982. She was then trained in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University. During her time there, Dr. Yu was promoted to Chief Physician, Deputy Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Director of Obstetrics. She attended several courses at Stanford University Women and Children Center located at the Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco (USA). In these courses, Dr. Yu learned skills like the emergency treatment of severe obstetric cases and recovery of neonatal asphyxia. She also obtained several other qualifications.

Before joining Beijing United Family Hospital, Dr. Yu worked at Beijing Shijitan Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University as Deputy Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of Obstetrics, as well as serving as a chief physician and professor. She has 37 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology. She is very skilled at responding to postpartum hemorrhage, performing different rescues of obstetric complications, and guiding critical maternal transfer within clinics. Her areas of clinical expertise include the treatment of high-risk pregnancy and pregnancy complications (such as eclampsia, pregnancy-induced hypertension, gestational diabetes, and cervical insufficiency) as well as the surgical treatment of complete placenta previa and the management of obstetric critical complications. She is especially skilled in reducing birth canal injury, promoting natural childbirth, and performing small-incision cesarean sections for cosmetic purposes.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Yu has written over 20 clinical articles and was awarded the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award. She has also conducted research in the field of perinatal medicine. She is a member of many medical associations, holding the following positions:

• Beijing and Haidian District Medical Malpractice Identification Expert;
• Beijing and Haidian District Midwifery Technical Expert Group;
• Member of the Chinese Eugenics Association;
• Director of the Beijing Eugenics Society;
• Executive Director of the Beijing Maternity Society;
• Standing Committee Member for the High-Risk Pregnancy Management Committee of the China Maternal and Child Health Association; and
• Member of the China Maternal and Child Health Association Promoting Natural Birth Committee.
