Biography

Dr. Yan graduated from the Department of Clinical Medicine of the Armed Police Force Medical College in 2000 and obtained an MMed degree from the Academy of Military Medical Sciences in 2006. He went on to get his doctorate in Clinical Medicine (with a focus on Endocrinology and Metabolism) from the PLA Medical College in 2009.

Prior to joining Beijing United Family Hospital, Dr. Yan worked in the Department of Endocrinology at the First Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital (301 Hospital) as an associate chief physician and associate professor. He is proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and critical endocrine and metabolic diseases. He is experienced in treating diabetes and its complications, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal diseases, reproductive endocrine diseases, gestational hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, hyperuricemia, and gout.

Dr. Yan has engaged in endocrinology work for 20 years and is committed to basic and clinical research on endocrine and metabolic diseases. He presided over the clinical medical research project of the Chinese Medical Association and the scientific research support project of the People’s Liberation Army General Hospital. He cooperates with the National Natural Science Foundation of China as a principal investigator.

Dr. Yan has published 20 papers in international and domestic journals, such as BMC Public Health and the Chinese Medical Association Journal. He is the editor-in-chief of How to eat healthily for diabetics, the deputy editor-in-chief of 301 Health Science Series: Diabetes, and the co-editor of the Practical Manual of Clinical Endocrinology Diagnosis and Treatment, Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism of the General Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army and other books.

He is currently a member of the Geriatrics Branch of the Chinese Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics, the Lipid Metabolism Group of the Endocrinology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and the Youth Committee of the Endocrinology Branch of the Beijing Medical Association.
