Dongdong Xu

Dr. Xu received her medical degree and medical master’s degree from China Medical University in 1997. She completed her PhD from the Dept. of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences (IBMS) at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) in 2000. Dr. Xu earned her M. D from Peking Union Medical College in 2002. She became an attendant in the department of opthalmology at Peking Union Medical College Hospital in 2007. She studied at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine from February to August 2012. During her time there, Dr. Xu also shadowed Dr. Demer, Dr. Veletz and Dr. Isenberg, who are renowned doctors in the strabismus and pediatric opthalmology department. She also learned more about thyroid associated opthalmopathy from Dr. Goldberg, an internationally recognized surgeon, researcher and teacher.

Before joining in Beijing United Family Hospital, Dr. Xu worked in Peking Union Medical College Hospital, dealing primarily in strabismus and pediatric ophthalmopathy. She is very familiar with the diagnosis and treatment of common eye diseases. She is very experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of ametropia (myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism), strabismus, amblyopia, pediatric opthalmolpathy, thyroid associated ophthalmopathy, and asthenopia. She is highly proficient in the conservative and surgery treatment of strabismus. She has initiated the laser treatment of trichiasis in PUMCH, with excellent outcomes.
With more than 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Xu loves her job and she cares deeply about her patients. Dr. Xu has published many papers in her subject and received a top prize at the Chinese Medical Sciences & Technology Awards.
