Derek Anthony O’Reilly

Dr. O’Reilly received his medical degree from Trinity College Dublin in 1992 and later obtained a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom. He completed his residency in General Surgery in the United Kingdom, where he rotated through various departments and developed expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases ranging  from liver, pancreatic, gallbladder, abdominal wall hernias to other digestive diseases.

Before joining Beijing United Family Hospital, Dr. O’Reilly served as the Clinical Director of HPB, Greater Manchester Cancer, a senior surgeon in the Manchester Royal Infirmary, and as an expert in producing clinical guidelines for the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Dr. O’Reilly has over 30 years of clinical experience.In addition to specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in general surgery, he also completed a fellowship in liver and pancreatic diseases.In addition to his clinical work, Dr. O’Reilly has published over 80 papers in prominent peer-reviewed medical journals such as The Lancet, the Journal of the American Medical Association, and the Annals of Surgery, etc.

Dr. O’Reilly is a certified general surgeon by the Royal College of Surgeons of England and an honorary professor of the Division of Cancer Sciences at the University of Manchester.
