Cheng Qi received her Masters of applied developmental psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013. She also received systematic training in Child Life assessment and intervention, solution focused therapy, family therapy and emotionally focused couple therapy.

Before joining Beijing United Family Hospital, Cheng Qi worked at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore. She served as a counselor at Higher Achievement Pittsburgh, Collegiate YMCA, and the Public Montessori School in Pittsburgh. Cheng Qi is an expert in parent-child relationships, child trauma, child emotional problems, child behavioral problems, child developmental behavior assessment (autism, ADHD, etc.),  child/adolescent grief therapy (parental divorce, family member loss), child adjustment disorder (kindergarten, school, school transition etc.), child medical stress intervention (check up, medical procedure, dental, surgery, etc.), and medical-patient communication skills training.

Cheng Qi is the first Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) in Mainland China. She is also a National Certified Psychological Counselor. Cheng Qi is the winner of the 2017 Mary Barkey Clinical Excellence Award, and she is the first ever Asian CCLS to receive the prestigious award.

In addition to specializing in clinical work, she also promotes the development of child life services in China. In 2016, Cheng Qi presented as a Chinese representative in Seattle Children’s Hospital and Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA.
