Dr. Murphy received his doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, in 1998, where he received specialty training in neuropsychology and clinical psychology. Dr. Murphy is board certified in Clinical Psychology. He completed his internship and residency training in neuropsychology rehabilitation hospitals and forensic neuropsychology clinics.
Before joining United Family Healthcare, Dr. Murphy worked as a neuropsychologist with a medical rehabilitation hospital in Philadelphia, specializing in stroke, traumatic brain injury, and orthopedic injury rehabilitation. Prior to working in Philadelphia, Dr. Murphy was the Training Director for an American Psychological Association accredited Psychology Internship Training Program in California’s largest private psychiatric hospital in San Diego, California.
Dr. Murphy has over 18 years of experience working in hospitals, clinics and private practice. Before moving to China in 2014 his roles included neuropsychologist, training director, senior clinical psychologist, supervisor, forensic expert witness, and adjunct professor. In addition to specializing in neuropsychological assessment, he has extensive experience in intellectual, educational, personality and forensic assessment. Dr. Murphy specializes in the treatment of mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as treatment of personality disorders.
Dr. Murphy is a member of the American Psychological Association and the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. Dr. Murphy maintains a license as a psychologist in both California and Pennsylvania.
