Education for Breast Cancer Patients Launched by Sino-US-RoK Partnership

On November 10, 2014, Peking University Cancer Hospital United Family International Clinical Center officially launched an education program for breast cancer patients. For the first phase of the project, 14 booklets and a children’s picture book album have been produced and will be promoted in United Family Healthcare’s medical institutions and Peking University Cancer Hospital for breast cancer patients and survivors.

Dr. Jiahua Leng, head of the education program from Peking University Cancer Hospital, Dr. Zhou Xi Cao, project leader from Samsung Medical Center, Miss Erin Walsh, Director of the Corporate Responsibility Department Asia-Pacific of Goldman Sachs Group, and Ms. Roberta Lipson, Chairwoman of United Family Healthcare and Chief Executive Officer of Chindex International, Inc, and Ms. Qizhi Ren, the Director of United Family New Hope Oncology Center, attended the ceremony.

Guided by the experience of the Samsung Medical Center, these educational materials have been specifically tailored for Chinese patients, created by the multidisciplinary experts from Peking University Cancer Hospital United Family International Clinical Center. United Family Healthcare and Peking University Cancer Hospital will continue to cooperate on patient education and scientific research to expand this initiative to China’s entire health care system.

“Patient education programs in China are still in their infancy,” Ms. Lipson said. “With advances in clinical diagnosis and the growing needs of patients, patient education becomes increasingly important.”
