Biography

Dr. Johanna Teiser received her training in Psychology at the University of Osnabrück, Germany and Monash University, Australia. For her doctoral degree in Psychology (University of Osnabrück; summa cum laude) she specialized in child development and cross-cultural psychology.

Dr. Teiser obtained her state recognized license to practice psychotherapy from the state of Brandenburg, Germany. Her postgraduate training as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist was completed at the Academy for Psychotherapy and Intervention Research (API) of the University of Potsdam, Germany, where she focused on cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy. Dr. Teiser has broad experience in conducting psychological testing and psychotherapy with children and adolescents. Common symptoms that can occur in this age group include anxiety, adjustment difficulties, attention deficits as well as depression.

Before joining United Family Healthcare, Dr. Teiser worked at the Department of Childhood and Adolescent Mental Health, St. Joseph Hospital and at a private practice for psychiatry and psychotherapy in Berlin. She was a lecturer in Developmental Psychopathology at the Sigmund Freud University Berlin.

Dr. Teiser also specializes in parent-infant counseling, addressing such problems as sleeping difficulties or excessive screaming in infants. She is passionate about working with patients from different countries and cultures.
