Masumi MARUO HOLLEDGE
Dr. Maruo Holledge studied medicine at the Tokyo Women’s Medical University (TWMU), graduating with an MD in 1994, and obtaining a physician’s license the same year. From 1994 until 2000 she did her early clinical training in the orthopaedics and rheumatology departments of various TWMU-connected Tokyo hospitals.
During 2001-06, she undertook research into the causes of rheumatic diseases, at the world-renowned Medical School of the University of Edinburgh (Scotland), leading to the award of a PhD in 2006. She then worked as a Senior House Officer in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and Aberdeen Woodend Hospital, obtaining full British GMC medical registration in 2006. During 2007-2013, she was employed as an orthopaedics surgeon in Kaisei Hospital, Obihiro, Hokkaido, handling elective, trauma and rheumatology cases. She has worked in Beijing United Family Hospital since 2013. From 2007 to the present, she has performed over a thousand surgeries, particularly of the lower leg and foot, knee, hip, and arm
Dr. Maruo Holledge is a member of the Japanese Society of Orthopedics and the Japanese Society of Rheumatism, and has published articles in Japanese and international journals including the Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Modern Rheumatology, Biorheology etc. She is registered to practice in China, Japan and the United Kingdom.
