Biography

Dr. Leila Sabet completed her Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Florida in 2000. She stayed at her alma mater for her medical degree, where she graduated with Honors for Special Achievement in 2004. She then completed her Master’s degree in Public Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in 2005. In 2008, she completed her residency in pediatrics at Children’s National Medical Center, affiliated with George Washington University, in Washington, DC.

Dr. Leila has over 10 years of clinical experience. In addition to working as a general pediatrician, she also specializes in the field of breastfeeding medicine and has worked one-on-one with mothers to support breastfeeding as well as community breastfeeding advocacy.

Dr. Sabet is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, section on breastfeeding as well as a lifetime member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. While practicing pediatrics in the United States, she also engaged in public health work focusing on vulnerable pediatric populations. She has volunteered for several international projects providing public health education and care for rural communities in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Honduras. She has also worked to serve needy and vulnerable populations within the United States, including low income community pediatrics as well as in a clinic for the uninsured and homeless populations.
