Dr. Zhen received his medical degree from the Norman Bethune Medical College at Jilin University in 1982. He later earned a PhD degree in molecular and cellular biology in 1993 from the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York. In 1994 he finished one-year postdoctoral study in field of nephrology at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore Maryland. In 2000 he completed a three-year clinical residency training at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Baltimore Maryland. In 2004 he completed a three-year gastroenterology fellowship training at the Georgetown University at Washington DC.
Before joining Beijing United Family Hospital, Dr. Zhen has been served as the attending physician in the gastrointestinal department of the Beaver Medical Group in Los Angeles, USA. He is not only an experienced endoscopist but also an expert in various esophageal, gastric, biliary, liver, and intestinal diseases, and especially in the treatment of hepatitis C.
Dr. Zhen has over 15 years of clinical experiences, throughout which he has conducted over 20,000 endoscopic procedures.
Dr. Zhen currently holds a Californian medical license and he is also a board certified gastroenterologist by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
