Biography

Dr. Wang Hua received Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Beijing Tongren Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University and worked there until 2015. From 2006 to 2007, she studied glaucoma under Academician So Kwok-fai of Li Ka Shing School of Medicine, University of Hong Kong.

She has conducted clinical work in ophthalmology for more than 20 years, diagnosing and treating patients with various types of glaucoma and cataracts. She is expert at laser/surgical treatment for glaucoma, cataract surgery, and the individual selection and implantation of monocular, trifocal, and astigmatic intraocular lens, as well as EDOF continuous vision intraocular lenses. She has rich experience in myopia prevention and control, OK lenses, defocus soft lens fitting, and ICL implantation for myopia correction in young people. Dr. Wang is skilled at treating various common anterior segment diseases, eye trauma, and neonatal lacrimal passage obstruction. She has also taken part in international conferences including the AAO Conference in the US and EVER Conference in France.

From 2015, Dr. Wang served as a specialist in the Glaucoma branch of the Chinese Doctor’s Association. In 2018, she was a Deputy Chairman of the Glaucoma Special Committee of the Beijing Medical Award Foundation. In 2019, she served as a Spine and Vision Health Specialist in the Adolescent’s Division of the General Administration of Sport of China. In 2023, she won the honorary title as one of the first domestic EDOF continuous vision intraocular lens implantation experts. She has served as Chair of Ophthalmology at Beijing United Family Hospital since June 2021.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Wang published articles in prominent medical journals, including the Chinese Medical Journal and BMC Ophthalmology and Neural Regeneration Research. She served as deputy editor for the monograph Diagnosis of Glaucoma. She also participated in the compilation of five books related to ophthalmology. When she worked at Beijing Tongren Hospital, she was only the second person put in charge of E2 Endoscope treatment of refractory glaucoma and won first prize for this new technology.
